A Typical Week as a Student at IHOPU in Kansas City, MO!

Hello everyone!

I was inspired to show you a typical day in Kansas City, MO at IHOPU by my sister!  I thought it was a wonderful idea!  So here it is:

I wake up to a song called All Around Me by Flyleaf at 6:30am.  I get up and read the psalm and the proverb of the day!  I jump in the shower to wake myself up, because everyone knows I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON! Once woken up by the water, I get ready for the day.  I play my keyboard for about 15 min. in my room to warm up my voice and begin my day with worship to my best friend.  I run downstairs and meet my house family!  I live with a wonderful IHOP family that blesses me so much!  The two youngest children are usually doing home-school work with their Mom at the kitchen table.  I greet them, and sometimes, if I am really tired, I make myself some tea.

Next, I bundle up, because it's freezing outside, and I drive to one of four locations where I have worship teams.  Monday-Thursday we have a different location every day. When I arrive we take the first 20 minutes to brief and talk about what we want to do in the 2 hour set.  We talk about scriptures, cross references, the line up of songs, chord progressions, and where we want the set to go spiritually. We then  proceed to begin our own prayer meeting with one other worship team.  We alternate between the teams having intercession and worship with the word sets, just like the Global Prayer Room!  This is part of my training at IHOPU.  When my team is on stage, I am a prophetic singer on the team, since voice is my major.  I am either singer #1 or #2. When I am singer #1, I am also called the chorus leader.  I make up choruses and help lead the room into worship!  If the other team is on stage, my team is the audience.  We engage in intercession and pray on the mic for specific topics.

After worship teams, we debrief.  This means we talk about the set, share the things we liked, and encourage each other!  Then I leave and go to the actual Global Prayer Room, where I have 2 hours there!  During this time I study the word, do my homework for my classes, or engage in the worship on stage.  I love starting my day out in the prayer room for 6 hours!! It really gives my energy for my day and helps me prepare emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.

At 2pm, I go home for a 45min break.  I eat lunch and practice my keyboard for another 30 minutes!  Then I go to My Keyboard, Ear Training, and Theory class.  They call it Keys Set.  It's all three in one!  That lasts an hour. On Wednesdays, I don't have Keys I have an hour Practicum class.  After Keys Set, or Practicum, I go to Foundations of Prophetic Ministry Mon/Wed from 4-6pm.  I love this class.  Shelley Hundley teaches this theology class! It has been wrecking me every week.  I go home almost speechless from the weight of the Holy Spirit and revelation that I have to study and work through myself. When I get home, I eat dinner, do more homework, and practice my keyboard for another hour!  On Tues/Thurs, I have more Global Prayer Room hours from 4-6 and then I go to work at David's Bridal until 9:30.

Fridays, I sleep in.  At 11m, I go to an intercession meeting for the ending of human trafficking in Uganda!  And I have Keys Set at 3pm.  This is my sabbath.  I rest, and also do errands and laundry...etc.   Friday and Saturday nights I go to Forerunner Christian Fellowship and attend the church services from 6-10pm.

Saturday and Sundays, I work until 5pm.  Sunday night I have free.  Usually I practice more keyboard and get ready for Monday's classes and make sure I have everything done that needs to be turned in! I end each night of the week worshipping in my room.  I don't consider this practice because I'm not doing the things I am learning in my Keys class.  I just like to bring the presence of God into my room before I sleep.  It has been helping my insomnia greatly!! He gives me divine peace and Then I wake up Monday Morning and do it all over again!

During the week, occasionally I don't work.  If I can, I go to get-togethers with my classmates and hang out.  We usually worship and prophecy over each other and sometimes watch a movie or play a game!

So this is a typical 50 hours of school, 20 hours of work week for me!
Kinda boring, but I like it!  I stay busy and I love it!

I hope you all are doing well!
Bless you,

Leah Johnson
